{the moment has arrived...}

Happy first day of spring! Out of the cold depths of winter, we made it to spring. I know there is still a portion of us trudging through snowy sidewalks, but I'm hoping the official calendar change of season is enough to get you into the mood.

"Spring immediately conjures up thoughts of new beginnings, fresh growth, and revived ideas. In my romanticized conception of the season, the landscape begins to look like a Claude Monet painting and everything appears to be lighter and in a beautiful state of flux." ~ written by Danica Van de Velde via Kinfolk magazine

I'm eager to shake off winter's coat and I'm looking forward to: celebrating Easter with the whole family; spending spring break with the kids; picking up fresh flowers; honoring Mother's Day; having picnics at the farmers' market; slipping away with friends and family for a mini holiday in May; embarking on our annual camping trip; and, teetering on the edge of summer, attending this conference. [!!]

What are you looking forward to in spring?

  1. I remember your camping trip! We have A LOT going on this spring. Baseball tournament next weekend. Company the next two. I'm out of town the weekend after that. And things ALWAYS move faster in the spring. We're planning a getaway for our family too, possibly out of the country, which is very exciting. And suddenly, it's summer. Amazing. Happy spring, dear.

  4. I love the illustration, Theresa! You're so talented.

    This change of seasons -- when it actually happens (which apparently isn't now) -- is why I love living here in New England despite the crazy winters. There's nothing subtle about the arrival of spring. It's suddenly green everywhere, with tulips popping up all over and cherry blossoms bursting through the branches of trees. It's enough that you somehow feel like, "Winter? What winter?" :) I can't wait to hear about all the adventures you'll have this season with your beautiful family. xo

  6. I've said it before and I'll say it again - I LOVE SPRING it's my favourite time of the year. I'll be experiencing wedding joy, pottering in the garden, getting the paintbrush out, hopefully planning a break in a far away land and launching a web store. Hooray! x

  7. You got a ticket to ALT?? I'm so happy for you! I passed this year (the 'buy' date was simply too close to Paris and registering for new French classes to justify) but I will definitely be making the trip up regardless just to see you! That will be so much fun! I am looking forward to denim jackets, sleeping with the window open, the smell of spring in the morning when it's still a little chilly, tulips, my oldest nieces birthday. What a fun way to look at a season!

    I adore that illustration. It's so beautiful. You are so talented, T! xoxo

  10. Ha, remember last year's camping trip? Did I complain enough about not wanting to go, or was that in my head? In the end, I'm always glad I joined the fun. I'm excited about your possible trip out of the country! What an adventure! Fingers crossed you make it happen. x PS~I have a strong feeling spring is going to fly by.

  13. Yes, the distinct changes of season are what I remember the most about living on the East Coast. It really is a special thing because it makes you appreciate each season for what it has to offer. When I lived in Boston, I used to love to walk through the public garden when they planted all the tulips. It was such a wonderful transformation!

  14. Like you, I am looking forward to spending more time outside, and keeping the windows/doors open in the house to let in fresh air. Some spring cleaning isn't a bad idea.

  16. Thank you, Erin! Well, I almost didn't get a ticket at all as the registration process was a nail biter. The system crashed twice! I had my husband on one computer and me on another trying to complete the registration process. My husband finally sealed the deal. I'll definitely be emailing as the time nears so we can work out a way to meetup. I would love to see you. Then, you can add me to your wonderful spring list above. :) xo
