{trendspotting: gold metal winners}

Well, I rocked the vote and, as I write this, the final results haven't yet been tallied. All will be revealed soon, and it's pretty exciting. Continuing on this "rock" theme (I promise I don't plan these things), I rounded up some items that fit a certain trend I've been noticing lately - rock-and-roll chic. Think: Lots of black with a bit of shiny metal and some hard/sharp edges. A little dab will do you. I suppose this post could have easily been a Hueville: Black and Gold. Anyway, there you have it. What say you, does this trend win your vote?

Ok, now I'm just getting loopy. I blame it on my election hangover, and the cold I just contracted. Happy hump day, everyone!

Update: Well, we officially know the outcome of last night's election. It was so exciting to follow the coverage on the car radio on our way to our anniversary dinner (more on Friday), the television, and Twitter. I heard that Twitter didn't crash once during its first monumental election night coverage with 327,452 Tweets per minute. And, breaking a record previously held by Justin Bieber, Barack Obama tweeted this photo which became the most retweeted Tweet in the history of Tweets (say that ten times fast). Impressive! What a night!

12 Send Me Your Thoughts:

  1. In my attempt to spice up my grey sweater fixation, I've been pairing them with a lot of black and gold. I love those shoes (and all shoes with gold toes) and that necklace. Want! Since I tend to go a bit romantic, these pieces would keep me from falling over the edge. A little bit of edginess does a girl good. Love your taste, Theresa!

  2. I LOVE all your picks. Black is the perfect foil for gold, don't you think? It just makes it pop in a way that no other colours can.
    I'm a total metallic fiend and I've been known to mix gold, silver, brass in one outfit. :D

    In other news, the votes are in and I couldn't be happier for you guys - congratulations!!!!!!!!!! #fourmoreyears

    P.S. Boo! to that nasty cold of yours. :(
    Hope you feel better soon! *hugs*

  3. I've seen a lot of this lately too. I'm thinking my fave of what you posted here are the shoes. Love that hint of "steel toe" in the shoe! Hope you had a great anniversary, and happy happy post election day. Still grinning over here.

  7. Black and gold is such a great combination, love everything you selected. Drooling over those Tom Dixon lamps and the bag. I used to not like gold at all but the older I got the more I started to love gold, now most of my jewelry is gold.

  9. Um, hello to those gold-toed flats. I'm loving that look, it's popping up on heels and flats all over the place. Alexander Wang is a genius with his bags, no denying that. And I love those lights! I retweeted that photo! I was part of that momentum, haha. Little victories just compound onto the big ones. You've stayed remarkably non-partisan through this whole election madness the last 24 hours, girl. Good job! xoxo

    So, gold and black is appropriate here and now you've got your own olympic medal:)
