{looking good, etienne aigner}

Are you guys familiar with Etienne Aigner? I wasn't either until I recently received their Fall 2012 Lookbook in an email and did a little digging. Seems the company was started in 1950 exclusively as an equestrian-inspired handbag and belt company. The company was founded by Etienne Aigner after completing apprenticeships with Christian Dior and Cristobal Balenciaga. In the beginning years of his business, money was tight and Aigner was forced to be resourceful utilizing leather from old luggage and affording only one dye color for the full production of his collection, which became the company's signature color of Antic Red.

Fast forward to the present and Etienne Aigner is undergoing a new creative direction, and the silhouettes and color palettes are pretty stunning. Well, you know me, I would need to switch out the stilettos for a flat ankle boot. But, other than that, I would pretty much wear these looks head-to-toe. (Burgundy and oxblood red/Antic Red do seem to be the color of the season.)

With the holidays fast approaching, I know many of us will start looking for holiday-outfit inspiration. (Did I really just write holiday-outfit?) Are any of these silhouettes speaking to you? What's your idea of a perfect holiday outfit?

  3. Those black ankle boots are divine. So are all those silhouettes, though the top right (the one in pants) speaks to me the most! I never knew the backstory behind their iconic red collection, thanks for sharing. You always find the neatest little details. Also I love this because it's French, haha.

  4. Err, I don't have holiday outfits!!! Pardon moi:)

    I actually grew up with Aigner and used to love them. Wow, now so not on my radar and had no idea they are re-vamping! Well no doubt they'll be successful....

    Me, flat boots and big bags:)

  5. So funny.  When I was in middle school, EVERYone had to have an Aigner bag. We're talking East Tennessee, so it was Ag-ner. Heavily monogrammed bags, and to me, they screamed stodgy money. A little "mean girl" maybe. Those were the girls who had them at least. This is not stodgy (I can't verify on the mean girl part, but let's assume "no!"), it's really stunning. I love hearing the history (separate from my own). And those totes. Yes.

  7. great quality stuff, t.  the problem i have had with leather and suede bags, especially the bigger ones - once you fill them with stuff, they give you a backache.  or throw your posture off and make something hurt.  have you noticed that?  beautiful, though.  joy!  n

  8. Your comment about a 'holiday outfit' has me giggling!.... and I love these silhouettes.
    I'd just like to say that i would love to have a winter Christmas one year (preferably a white Christmas). This time of year here is quite social and relaxed... very outdoors-y and hot.... i long for cold weather and an inviting fire place xx

  9. Oh boy, I still really like their handbags.  And funny enough, my laptop's name is Etienne.  It's this weird thing where I have to give all of my electronic devices French names...
