{giving thanks}

Well, here we are, the day before Thanksgiving. We made it. There is so much to be thankful and grateful for, wouldn't you agree? Family, friends, life, and health. The fact that I have the ability to blog at all means my life is in a pretty good place. There isn't a day in my life that I don't fully recognize that blogging is a luxury - an indulgence - and I'm grateful for it. Grateful also that all of you stop by to read and support it. That's the icing. Thank you for being the icing to my cake.

Something else I'm grateful for? Good books. I just finished reading The End of My Life Book Club by Will Schwalbe*, and I have to say that it was one of the best books I've read in a long time. It's about the passion a mother and son share for reading while the mother is fighting pancreatic cancer. It's also a book about books and how books can touch - even change - your life. I now have an entire list of books I want to read, immediately. (Elegance of the Hedgehog and Suite Francaise,** to name a few.)

What are you thankful for this Thanksgiving?

Now take that feeling and have yourself a wonderful Thanksgiving! I'm signing off for the week and will see you back here on Monday. Cheers, my friends!

*Erin, thank you again for the recommendation.
**Update: I remember you highly recommended Suite Francaise, Erin. So, I was tickled when they mentioned it in The End of Your Life Book Club, which I think you would really love, by the way. [wink]

20 Send Me Your Thoughts:

  1. Haha of course I would like that book, I'm the one that recommended it to you, silly girl! :) It's a great read, you should pick it up when you have the chance. Lots to be thankful for this Thanksgiving, and being surrounded by family is the biggest. Love that table setting, so simple and elegant at the same time. Enjoy your Thanksgiving and have a great week and weekend! xo

  2. I'm so glad you loved it! I did, too. I keep giving it to more friends. My book club really enjoyed Elegance of the Hedgehog. After I finished End of Your Life, I read Crossing to Safety by Wallace Stegner, the first book they read together, and it was really lovely.
    Happy Thanksgiving- enjoy the break!

  6. Oh my gosh, Erin! I just realized how poorly set up my wink was to you. I meant
    to give you a wink for recommending Suite Francaise to me and tell you
    that you would enjoy The End of Your Life Book Club because they mention
    and talk about Suite Francaise in the book. Doh! Sorry for the
    confusion. (All fixed, I hope. :)

    Anyway, happy Wednesday. Hope you have a half day today, and happy Thanksgiving.
