i'm just popping in quickly today for a little trendspotting (no pun intended). i don't think i'm delivering any breaking news when i tell you that polka dots are rapidly growing in popularity. the polka dot trend has been building and will hit us with all its force this fall. i think i could definitely make that silk equipment blouse above work. the blouse is so delicate and would add just the right touch of femininity to an otherwise tomboy outfit. i guess that means i'm on board.
in case you need some more inspiration, here are some cute:
- polka dot flats
- polka dot denim
- polka dot sheets
- polka dot throw pillow
- polka dot dishes
- and i would be remiss if i didn't mention the yayoi kusama exhibition that is taking place at the whitney museum and the collaboration she did with louie vuitton
ok, i'll stop now. are you seeing spots yet? do you see yourself working this pattern into your wardrobe?

Hmmm no I don't think so for me... but maybe. They come and go frequently polka dots don't they? Funny how they are almost always navy and white! x
ReplyDeleteI love polka dots, in limited doses. And this post has inspired me. We have middle school orientation at Callum's school tomorrow (can you feel my rapid pulse through the computer?), and I'll wear my polka dotted top. In navy and white, of course!
ReplyDeleteI don't think I'm much for incorporating it into my wardrobe but I could certainly throw it into my home
ReplyDeleteMay be dots have taken over from stripes? May be not! I have a chiffon polka dot dress with a little peplum hem that I've had for 10 years or so, bought for a friends wedding. It's black and white, I'll have to get it back out. I much prefer big spots to little dots too x
ReplyDeleteI could definitely do polka dots! I find them very sweet. I like the combo of the large and small in the bottom right image. I would have never thought to do that :) Cool.
ReplyDeleteYes yes yes! You know I'm a sucker for polka dots, and no one seems to do them better than J.Crew and Madewell. I'm so happy this trend is taking over, it's one I can definitely get on board with. I have a sleeveless polka dot blouse with a bow collar that I have to refrain from wearing multiple times a week, haha.
ReplyDeleteSo adorable. Love, love!
ReplyDeleteI love polka dots and always have, regardless of trends. As with everything else in my wardrobe, I do feel that the bigger/bolder they are, the better! :D
ReplyDeleteNo polka dots for me.... ANYWHERE!! :))
ReplyDeleteWoohoooooooooo, got a link!!!!! Deserves another comment:))
ReplyDeleteI'm with you, can't get enough of the dots these days! Can I have every piece you suggested in my closet and home?!
ReplyDeleteLove polka dots! Always have, always will. Polka dots are the next best thing to stripes : )
ReplyDeleteaddicted to polka dots (and stripes!)
ReplyDeleteOh YES! I love polka dots. I don't often feel the need for more stuff, but I think I NEED more dots in my wardrobe. I love the playfulness of the top left image. xxx
ReplyDeleteI love polka dots! Last month I bought a chambray shirt with white polka dots. Perfect combination!
ReplyDeleteditto leah. i love the coolness of the bottom right photo. that's how i'd wear it, minus the high heals and add in something cute and comfortable. joy to you, t!
ReplyDeleteIt's true, polka dots do go in and out. I remember they were big when I was in high school. You know I'm dating myself when I've seen a trend come around twice. ;)
ReplyDeleteI loved seeing you work the dots in the Instagram pic. Hope all went well at Callum's orientation. Are you able to breathe a little easier now?
ReplyDeleteOh, then you'll definitely want to check out the polka dot sheets. They're so cute.
ReplyDeleteThe thought of dots taking over stripes did cross my mind. Though, I don't think it's going to happen. I have seen some stylist mixing dots WITH stripes in the same outfit...Clever. Did you know that peplums are back in too? Now you must break out your chiffon polka dot dress with peplum. What's old is new again.
ReplyDeleteI thought the mixing of the bigger dot with smaller dot pattern was such a cool idea too. I love it!
ReplyDeleteWait, have I seen this polka dot blouse? I feel like perhaps it was on one of your Fave Fives? Anyway, I bet it looks great on you. I tell you, if I owned that Equipment blouse above, I might resort to wearing it every day.
ReplyDeleteOh, thanks for asking dear! I think we're both breathing easier. I'll have a little tidbit about it in tomorrow's 5 things.
ReplyDeleteThank you!
ReplyDeleteI had a hunch you might like polka dots. They match your whimsical personality.
ReplyDeleteWhat if Missoni decided to do a polka dot pattern? ;)
ReplyDeletePS~Your comment above made me smile. Happy you made the link work. Yahoo!

ReplyDeleteTori, I saw your newest addition - a polka dot clutch! It would have been perfect for this post.
ReplyDeleteAww, thanks so much for sharing, Theresa!
ReplyDelete...and who knew you could wear them together!
ReplyDeleteI might be right behind you in the NEED department. :)
ReplyDeleteOH, Nina, that is the perfect combination. Can we get an Instagram shot of that outfit? :)
ReplyDeleteI think we're all in agreement that the personal style blogger, Atlantic-Pacific, knows how to mix her polka dots.
