not too far back, annie and erin conducted a little experiment whereby they took a closer look at their tumblr and pin boards (respectively) to determine whether any patterns and/or recurring themes floated to the surface. i thought this was an interesting experiment and i wanted to take a stab at examining my own pinterest boards. you all must know by now that i love tomboy style, graphic design, and a pop of red (more specifically crimson). however, below are some other emerging themes that i discovered i love:
men's style and vintage transportation. (in fact, i get a lot of my own style inspiration from men's fashion.)
old homes full of character with a mix of vintage, americana and mid-century modern touches, and hand lettering. (i can't get enough of calligraphy, fonts and illustrations.)
oh, and i'm a sucker for a great quote and inspiring women with timeless style. i have to say that after taking a closer look at my pins, nothing above surprises me. i suppose my overarching theme includes images that are timeless and classic. equal parts aspirational and inspirational. for the most part, i try to scour the internet and discover new pins. however, i also have a handful of favorite pinners from whom i can't help repinning:
who are some of your favorite pinners? anyone i should be following?

Ooh fun! Love seeing how your interests manifest and translate to the things we pin. I love your selections! Very quintessentially you. My biggest inspiration on pinterest comes from Veanad. I know, I sing her praises all the time.
ReplyDeleteI am WITH you on men's styling - it's inspiring, clean and so accessible. I think it's much less intimidating than women's fashion. I can not begin to get a handle on THAT
ReplyDeletelove pinterest! find mine here http://pinterest.com/bcls/
ReplyDeleteGosh I haven't been on Pinterest for aaaaages.
ReplyDeleteI get inspired by menswear, too! Yet ANOTHER thing we have in common! :D
I follow Bright Bazaar because in addition to pinning gorgeous interiors, he also pins great (and easily adaptable) menswear!
I recently started following Pip Lincolne because she does such fun, colour-coded pins - a great resource for a fashion designer!
Pinterest is something I feel like I'm not very good at, but you've inspired me, Theresa! I love the things you've pinned here; they all seem very *you.* I feel like I'm still trying to figure out what's *me*!
ReplyDeletei'm not finding time to pin, but do love what i've seen out there. i love your style, t!
ReplyDeleteGreat post! It's fun to look for patterns in our behaviour ... well, in our pinning behaviour, in this case :) It can be very revealing. The other day, a fellow blogger and I did a similar exercise. We looked at our most recent pins (I chose the last four) and interpret the theme of each image to describe or say something about our current state (wishes, values, fears ... ). My results were, 'vacation' (a repin from your blog actually!), 'ideas', 'comfort' and 'simplicity'.
ReplyDeleteI like your men's style and vintage transportation theme!
Theresa I love your pin boards...I have an affinity for anything with black in it and small pops of colour and the tomboy style is so my kind of thing as well. I am trying to pick a dress for a wedding this weekend and finally I said to my husband yesterday that I am going to wear a really nice pair of tailored dress pants...that white blazer above is calling my name! Hope all is well with you! keep up the happy pinning!
ReplyDeleteOh thanks, Erin. You sing Veanad's praises and its warranted. I will definitely check her out on Pinterest.
ReplyDeleteThere is something really clean and simple about men's style that also appeals to me. Quality for men goes a looong way, which then let's them get away with less accoutrements.
ReplyDeleteHee-hee, I already follow you...Of course. :)
ReplyDeleteOh, how fun! Two new Pinterest accounts I can look into. Thanks for the recommendations, Chi!
ReplyDeleteHm, I'm going to have a look at your boards. I betcha there's an overarching theme there.
ReplyDeleteWell, better not to have the time suck. You're tending to more important things. :) Thank, Noreen!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Kinga. Yes! A sharp pair of trousers to a wedding is brilliant. I've been known to wear tailored pants to a wedding, or two. :0) A fitted blazer will be the pièce de résistance. You're going to look great! Hope all is well with you too, Kinga. I love your boards, as well!
ReplyDeleteI dip in and out with pinnining. Somehow, there's so little time left after always needing to make sure I have enough original photography for my posts but this post prompted me again. I will dedicate some time this weekend to it:)
ReplyDeleteThis here is definitely all very you!
t, i love your boards and your style.
ReplyDeletei think i need a pinterest board analyzer to help me define my style!
