{at this moment: big bear...}

as in big bear lake, where we went camping. well, folks, this post will be my last camping post until... well, until next year. i'm sure you've gathered by now that our family survived our third annual camping trip. for all of my complaining (i hope you know half of my whining is just to get a chuckle out of you), everyone had a great time, including myself. no, really, i did.

something none of us expected, we got buckets of rain on both days. (seems my rain boots came in handy after all.) oh well, when you're already dirty and dusty, what's a little rain. strangely enough, the rain was relaxing and calming. i mean, when in your life do you ever take the time to just sit and listen to rain falling through tall pine trees? moreover, when do you ever let your kids run around in the rain with wild abandon? the kids got sopping wet and loved every minute of their water fight, taking cover behind pine trees and jumping over obstacles. ah, childhood. then, off in the distance, we got a rainbow, and all was right with the world. you know what they say: when life gives you rain, look for rainbows. quick, someone make a poster and sell it on etsy.

and just like that, we made it to another weekend, friends. whatcha got cookin'? shockingly, we have no birthday parties, and both days are ripe with possibility. in other words, a pretty quiet weekend. whatever you do, have fun and may you see rainbows.

oh, before i set you free, i'm guest posting over on julip made today where i attempt to explain what this blog aims to deliver on the regular. i would love if you popped over. thanks guys!

have a wonderful weekend everyone!

24 Send Me Your Thoughts:

  1. Sounds like you had a lot of fun camping! No one got mauled by a bear. Rainbows are so pretty! You should turn that quote into a poster. I am so glad the weekend is almost here...This weekend I am going to the Whitney with a friend, she asked me to see the Yayoi Kusama exhibition. Funny enough it was on the day Annie wrote about her on her blog.

  10. Get a load of Townsend! I'd certainly think twice before taking him on in a water fight!! :D
    I'm so pleased you had fun and that the kids got to be even more devil-may-care than usual. Every kid loves that - even the big ones! :D

    I'm going to a triple celebration tomorrow - my husband's uncle's 60th, his grandson's 6th and the birth of his second grandson. We'll also squeeze in a bit of - you guessed it .......... househunting!

    Enjoy your quiet weekend. More often than not, they're just what the doctor ordered. :) xo

  16. That serious face was a result of my interrupting his game play. :) Son #1 on his first holiday abroad? Oh, I share your anxiety. No matter how old the children get, our job as mum never ends, right? I'm sure he will do fine and have a blast.
    Thank you for your wonderful comment on the guest post!

  18. You know, I just took a closer look at that rainbow photo and I do believe it's a double rainbow. Do you see it? No birthday parties this weekend, but we're gearing up for a big one next Saturday (little man's fifth!). So, this quiet weekend was much needed. Happy weekend to you, Tori!

  20. I've come to realize that kids love nothing more than to just play unhindered by adult supervision and rules. We always plan these elaborate activities (especially at birthday parties) and all they want to do is play with their friends.
    Triple celebration, indeed! Have the best time celebrating these special people in your life. Happy weekend, Chi!
