{moodboard / JULY...}

hello, hi, and howdy! hope you all had a great weekend. did you notice that we officially tripped into july over the weekend? that can only mean one thing - new moodboard! since fourth of july is this wednesday, i thought i would try to go with a red, white, and blue color theme, as much as i could. the overall feeling is patriotic including all of the best things that the month of july and summer have to offer.

  • this month our family will be celebrating four birthdays! two of which are in our immediate family - my husband and daughter. their birthdays are seven days apart and she is definitely daddy's little girl. every year on her birthday, i pause and remember the ka-razy birth story. thank goodness i can laugh about it now. one day when my daughter is old enough, i will say to her, "mommy almost had you at disneyland."
  • for this month's book club selection, we are reading gone girl by gillian flynn. i've heard so many great things about this book, i can't wait to start reading it. well, right after i finish the fire starter sesssions. almost there.
  • those vanilla-strawberry-and-blueberry sundaes are my ode to fourth of july. don't they look dee-licious? martha stewart has the best food stylists and photographers.  i can stare at great food photography for hours (ok, minutes).
  • i've got summer dressing on my mind. i'm thinking my summer uniform will be denim cut-offs with a chambray shirt. i'll throw in some dresses and skirts on hotter days. i didn't realize i needed or wanted a jacket with grosgrain ribbon trim; such a sweet detail.
  • that bedroom shot from heidi merrick's home is a reminder to catch up on all the sleep i let go to the wayside over the month of june. plus, the color scheme was perfection. how serendipitous!
  • last, but certainly not least, july is dedicated to doing more of the things i love. i made my own little goal that every friday of summer, the kids and i would venture  out and explore uncharted territory. it will be good for us to get lost in adventure. (a.k.a., pushing away from the computer and getting stimulated by life.)

so, that's july. a little bit busy, but in a very healthy way. what about you? how is july shaping up for you?

  2. July already, yes indeedy. We have just one birthday in July, my eldest will be 18 so quite a biggy for him. Just he and I are at home this morning, and I said to him how I was reflecting on this period 18 years ago, the Summer was a scorcher here in the UK then, and it was just me and him in the tummy at home, trying to keep cool, waiting for him to be born. It seems like yesterday and now he is here, just the two of us. I got quite emotional!!

Almost a Disneyland birth T! That must have been a shock to the system but a great story!

The blue in Heidi's home is a beautiful colour, so calm yet vibrant too.

    Happy July x

p.s. So happy you guys all got to meet up at the weekend, we wanna hear all about it :-)

  3. I had no idea that was Eames' birth story! Good lord, that's so scary. Happy almost-birthday to your girl and your main man! July just sort of popped up out of no where, don't you think? I love the moodboard this month. I totally want to paint a bedframe bright blue now. And eat lots of summer fruit! And generally stay indoors and avoid the oppressive humidity that descends on us every summer. It always adds another 5-10 degrees to the already sweltering heat. Happy July!

ps. I'm with Sam! I want to hear all about your meet up!! xo

  12. Hey T. I can't comment on the iPhone or at work so I will have to catch up when I can. Promise I'm reading every post as it comes out though!
Love all of those colours, and my favourite is of course the one with the kiddies. Where did July come from??? xx

  14. Well, I did a bit more digging and it seems that blogger does have threaded comments. The whole reason I switched over to Disqus was to get threaded comments. So, as soon as I can devote some time to it, Disqus may go away.

  15. Happy birthday to your son! I'm sure he is very excited to be turning 18. In the US, that's the age when you become an adult. Wonder if it's the same in the UK. I loved that you shared that moment. It just proves to me that time flies, so I had better appreciate it.
PS~Ok, I try to write a little something on Friday.

  16. Ha! In hindsight, it's a pretty funny birth story. Though, WHAT was I thinking going to Disneyland on my due date?!
Ugh, I distinctly remember summers on the East Coast. It ain't pretty. Say, there's this place on the West Coast you might like. It's called California. Come on over. ;)
PS~Ok, a little something on Friday.

  17. "July is so far, so fun!" Couldn't agree more. I'm thinking you might have to join some of these Friday adventures. Let's see what kind of mischief we can get into.

  18. Yes, I hope it put you into the summer mood.

  19. Me too. :) I'm kind of leaving them open and then deciding what to do the day before OR the day of. I want to keep the plans loose and spontaneous, exactly what summer is all about. I'll keep everyone posted.

  20. I think it's a good idea you've got going to set a goal for the month. Around our house, If I don't make appts and reservations we don't do anything. So, I have to plan things. I'm excited for what's to come with our blogger get togethers and so happy we got together with Lauren! Teri

  21. I know, what was I thinking?! Clearly, I wasn't. :) I heard that Disneyland has this whole underground/backstage (as they call it) city with an entire emergency crew ready to handle whatever comes up. So happy I didn't need their services.
Happy Fourth to you too, Jeanne!

  22. Aw, thanks! I am looking forward to where these adventures will take us.
I think we skipped IG because we wanted to save the pics for Lauren's Monday Mashup post.

  23. I know. Annie has been having the same problem. I don't like that some of you can't link your blog to your comment. As soon as I can devote some time to it, I think I will return to the blogger comment system. Thanks for hanging in there.

  24. Oh, yes, please share Miss S' birth story. I would love to read it.
The bed placement is interesting. I didn't quite notice it until you pointed it out that the headboard is pulled away from the wall. I would love to see the entire room to get a better feel.
Seems like we have a lot to celebrate over the next few weeks!

  25. Ugh, so sorry, Annie! Like I mentioned below, I'm looking to remedy this situation. Thanks so much for hanging in there.

  26. When I first wrote this post, I mentioned that I could just smash my entire face in that sundae, it looks so good. It didn't make the edited version. ;) Wishing you the best July too, Jin!

  27. I love mood boards, and yours are just great :) Sounds like a really good way to envision July. My July will be filled with work, work and more work. Especially a lot of work for my own personal ventures and I'm really looking forward to it. I feel pretty energized, I hope this feeling lasts the month :)
