{floral alert...}

with spring just around the corner, flowers are making their way onto the scene. have you been noticing the reemergence of the floral pattern? i've seen the pattern on everything from jeans to dr. marten boots. the pattern first made its debut on the runways of proenza schouler, alexander wang, stella mccartney, and marni last spring. as it often goes, the pattern is now making its way into mainstream fashion, hitting a retail store near you. every retailer from j. crew to zara has their own version of the pattern.

of course, i don't think i could wear the pattern from head to toe. i could do little doses of it. maybe a liberty button down or a shift dress. what about you? do you have your eye on anything floral right now, or do you think you'll sit this dance out?

  1. You're right, I saw a little bit emerging last year, but the trend should be in 'full bloom' this year. I think I will sit it out. It's a bit too much for me :)

    Xx.

  2. I'm kind of a sucker for florals. It's a weakness. It's all so feminine and dainty and lovely! Check out Cath Kidston's stuff if you want some more florals. Hooo boy it's like floral is her middle name! Annie hates her, haha.

    But you're right, only in moderation would I wear floral print stuff. A nice scarf or little dress would be perfect.

  3. I love me so floral design ; ) I actually collect a lot of floral fabric for sewing. I only like a splash of it so a skirt or a handbag would be perfect for me.

  4. I love it. I've bought a few items from J.Crew with floral patterns. I think it's very bright and cheery and you can mix it up with denim, etc. so it's not so sweet (if you prefer). Teri

  5. In very small doses, maybe! I've already seen the overkill.

    Erin, love, i HATE Cath Kidston, probably even more than Annie:)

    Maybe a scarf?

  9. At the moment I live, work and play in blocks of colour. I'm a never-say-never kind of girl as I never know what I'll be decrying one minute and wearing the next.

    I haven't dressed my daughter in floral print since she was born, come to think of it .........

    Pretty, though. :)

  10. Yes yes yes I just bought some floral jeans (check my post today) and they are awesome, I love them so much. And believe me, I surprised myself as I'm not a floral girl at all.

    I'm going to make a big distinction here. There is the whole Cath Kidson 'I left my brain behind when I got married and now all I can do is talk about cupcakes' school of Stepford Wives, and then there is the 1980s revival florals which is what these are. It's all Grange Hill and Banarama. Hoorah!

    PS I don't hate CK, I'm sure she's very nice, but her stuff has certain connotations over here, it's like women can't just have a couple of things, they have to deck out their entire house and body in the stuff. Yuk. (sorry Erin).

  11. I agree everyone - a little goes a long way. It's funny that Annie brings up the revival of the 1980's floral...Yup, I wore mine in the early 90's. I had a romper which I wore with Doc Marten boots and capri pants that I wore with huarache sandals (also making a come back). As they say: What's old is new again.
