{at this moment: best wishes + link love...}

getting ready to celebrate. i mentioned last week that we are attending the wedding of a very close friend. we have the rehearsal and rehearsal dinner tonight, and the wedding will take place on saturday night. both my husband and son are in the wedding, and my daughter was just added. it's been fun getting the whole family's attire together. as i was perusing the wonderful web and my favorite blogs for inspiration, i thought i would share the links with you so you too can be dazzled. (i realize i'm leaving you with a lot to chew on, so just enjoy what you can.)

  • odessa may society - beautifully designed site, curated products, and font recommendations (my personal favorite!). i actually got the two fonts i used in my header from oms - rawengulksans and odstemplik (thanks, jennifer!). oms is also a byw alumn (from the session before ours).
  • this wedding shot by jose villa - since i have wedding on the brain, i fell head over heels for this wedding shoot i found via 100 layer cake. the shoot took place in one of my old stomping grounds and favorite cities, san francisco. have you seen jose villa's work? he is an amazing photographer and his very own wedding can be seen in this month's martha stewart weddings.
  • the beauty department - i am definitely going to hit this site up for hair and make-up inspiration for this weekend. i can use all the help i can get to get this wig and mug party ready. (thanks, liz!)
  • #altsummit - there is this huge conference taking place in salt lake city right now, altitude design summit, where bloggers of the world converge and unite. have you heard of it? on twitter, you can use the following hashtag (#altsummit) to discover a ton of great blog advice that attendees and panel speakers are sharing. my favorite one so far is from jeanne chan of shopsweetthings: look for natural opportunities to build relationships with people and eventually build friendships. (i think this community is on a great path, and i'm working on that very suggestion. ;)

i will try my best to take some photos this weekend. lighting will be dim, so we'll see what this lumix can do. what about you, my friends? any fun plans for the weekend? another week bites the dust. have a great weekend everyone!

16 Send Me Your Thoughts:

  2. Take loads of pics of the wedding, and make sure you have an incredible time. Don't know if you watch Modern Family, but this week's episode featured the young daughter of a couple as a flower girl in a wedding, where she dropped the F-bomb in the middle of the ceremony. It was hilarious, but let's hope neither of your wee ones decide to recreate that moment!

    Thanks for the links. Alt Summit looks great, but I'd feel soo out of place there I think. Have a great weekend, Theresa!

  3. Hooray! More great links! I contend we should all go to Alt Summit together next year, and that way if we feel out of place at all (I'm totally with you on that one, Erin), we can sneak back up to our hotel room and drink, uh, I mean commiserate.

    Callum was ring bearer (he called it ring "barrier" in Neel's brother's wedding when he was four and even then he was brave enough to walk the length of a tremendous aisle with the actual (!) rings (!) on the pillow.

    Thank you for saying what you did about community. This community means the world to me, and lifts me up when I feel especially low...like yesterday. Have a wonderful time, my dear! And have fun taking pictures, but don't let it get in the way of having fun!

  5. @TORI - Family time is always the best. I noticed you're sharing some blogging (building community) tips on your blog today (I love them!). I think you'll enjoy the #altsummit tips, as well.

    @ERIN - Ha! I think I'm going to flip my wig the first time one of my kids drops the F* bomb! In fact, thanks for bringing it up because now I can prepare myself and attempt composure in the moment.
    I'm so with you on the 'feeling out of place' at alt summit. That inner circle is tight. What is it they say: Do something out of your comfort zone and it really stretches you. Maybe bungee jumping is better.

    @LAUREN - Ah, there's the answer - We all go together to Alt. Wouldn't that be fun?!
    Good job, Callum! Fingers crossed that my kids cooperate and make it down the aisle.
    I think this community is pretty RAD! Especially when we need it the most.

    @JULIA - Aw, shucks. Thanks, J!

    @MARIT - Yup, I support that notion.

  10. Have a great time this weekend - so fun to play stylist with your kids, at least once in awhile! :) I've been loving all the altsummit tweets on twitter too. I think it would be a dream to go, although I can't imagine the look on my husband's face when I tell him I want to go to a bloggers conference in Salt Lake :)

  13. Hope you guys will have plenty of fun at the wedding. Look forward to see your fab photos.

    Alt Summit... only spotted it on twitter yesterday for the first time. Sounds like a hoot and would be fun to attend. Why do you guys feel you'd be out of place there?

    Will look at links....
    Ciao:)

  14. Flip my wig? I LOVE that! I learn the best vocab from you brilliant ladies!

    A few months ago when we took Richard's kids back to their mum, his five year walked through the door and the first thing he said to her was 'this is not a game of who the f*ck are you'. that was soooo not good!

    T have a spectacular time at the wedding, can't wait to hear all about it.

    I so badly want to go to Alt, I've been reading a few blogs for girls that are there. Let's all go next year!!! That would be awesomest awesome thing ever.

    Have a great weekend ladies xxx

  15. I'm not sure if this is too late but I hope you have an absolute blast at your friend's wedding.

    Your kids must be so excited to be part of it all!

    I just found out that my daughter will be a flower girl (do you have those in the States?) at my brother-in-law's wedding later this year.

    She'll have no memory of it when she grows up (other than the photos) but I'm excited for her nonetheless! :D

    Alt Summit looks like such a fun learning experience. So far, the tweets have been very inspiring and insightful. Who knows? We might all be lucky enough to attend someday.

    Enjoy the rest of your weekend! :D

  16. Thanks for all your well wishes everyone. The wedding was absolutely beautiful. There wasn't a dry eye in the house...I mean, art gallery. More on the wedding latter this week.

    @JENNIFER - HA! I think I might receive a similar (what?!) reaction from my husband.

    @TINA - :) That's just self-deprecation talking.

    @ANNIE - That is a funny F* story! I agree, Alt would be the awesomest thing ever and to go all together would be even awesomer. If we have "Amercanisms" in the States, I wonder what Brit slang/expressions are called?

    @CHI - Thanks, Chi. We definitely have flower girls in our weddings here, and I bet your daughter will make an adorable one. Alt Summit or bust!
